Grove City Volunteer Fire Department was founded on September 21, 1904. It was then the borough supplied funding for the first equipment. A hose cart was one of the first pieces of equipment in the department. (One can still be seen on display in the department display room at 395 E. Pine St.)
The first piece of motorized equipment operated by GCFD was in 1916. (Our 1925 REO Speed wagon, one of the early pieces of apparatus can still be seen on display with the hose cart.) The Department operated out of two departments until 2013. Station 1 was on North Broad street and Station 2 was at 395 E. Pine St. These stations were combined in 2013 to consolidate members and apparatus when the building was renovated.
The department currently operates at 395 E. Pine St. with Two Engines, a Tower Ladder, and a Utility pickup truck.
